Up here atop the windy mountain, white tailed deers and turkeys took advantage of the snow melt, grazing upon pastures of dormant grass. Then the brief spell of warm sunshine turned into a blizzard. Powdery snow drifts in the chilly wind for days. People hunker down in their hearth with wood stoves blazing, cows and horses lay in their warm barns.
The countryside is wrapped in a beautiful blanket of tranquility. Rolling hills seem frozen in time as woodchucks, coyotes and bears slumber. Except for the songbirds fluttering about the feeders – nothing seems to faze these hardy little birds!
Our dogs don’t seem to mind it either. Yuki (rough collie) loves the cold weather and Kage (english shepherd) bounds in the snow like a rabbit.
As for me, it’s days like this that are great for being creative!
